Computers in the Workplace

The industry of choice is intake for workers comp claims. I currently work as an IT professional in this industry and get to see firsthand how important computer literacy is to their daily duties. Employees in this environment perform 90% of their duties using computers. They input pertinent data relating to claims and store vital client information. This information at times is sensitive and personal and can affect the claims’ livelihood both short term and long term if not properly secured. Having an operational personal computer allows for ease and security in storage, tracking, database input and recall abilities needed to file, process, and produce information needed to support these clients.

Advancements in computer hardware, operating systems and networking can only help to make this process more efficient. The most common setbacks to these advancements are education and training. Some fear not being able to grasp the ever-increasing knowledge of technology, leading to a lack of training as things advance. Here is where Artificial Intelligence can play a vital role. While many may fear AI, AI is a tool like many other things that can help to alleviate pressures and introduce change at a more acceptable pace. Artificial Intelligence can assist with these setbacks of lack of education and proper training by providing a hands-on approach to training and allows end users to interact with their training virtually and digitally. An example of this is in the industry of customer service. Some customer service industries have employed Articulate 360 to help create e-learning tools for training. Having the ability to summarize and create more professional documentation can only help to enhance this type of company with existing and future clients.
